The beauty of the waves is admired by every person who goes to a beach, but none of us ever thought of the marvels these waves can perform. There is probably tons of energy stored in them (estimated to be 2 Terawatts of power). Portugal’s Pelamis Wave Power has recently introduced this renewable source to the world through the first ever wave farm in Agucadoura.

The British based company Rolls Royce is bringing the good old propeller engines back into the aviation industry with a little difference. The company is making an attempt to decrease fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emission by the aircrafts.

Ok, so you have planned an al green birthday party. The recycled party invitations have been sent out and you have prepared a delicious and tempting organic cake. But before the candles are blown out amidst cheers of ‘Happy Birthday To You’, you might want to make a green wish for some green candles!
There is a little more information about the neon waxy sticks that we find in the market; they contain a mixture of unlabelled ingredients that produce lead and cadmium when ignited. And we know how lead exposure can cause behaviourial problems and lower intelligence in children. Cadmium is carcinogenic in nature.

Being too green may spell trouble for you, so say psychiatrists in the USA. As per the experts, the extreme environmental awareness is giving rise to a generation of ‘carborexics’.
The scientists claim that there is a thin line between behaviours that qualify for eco-leadership or bordering on the obsessive-compulsive. A survey pointed that seven per cent of Americans fall into the category of ‘dark green’.

With Mini E, the BMW group will become the first manufacturer to have a fleet of around 500 electric vehicles in everyday traffic around the world. This little eco car will work on a 150 kW electric motor with a rechargeable lithium-ion battey feeding it. As a result, the vehicle will be silent and emission-free. Plus it promises a range of 150 miles.
Though initially Mini E will be provided to select corporate customers in California, NY and New Jersey, it will have a world premiere at the LA Auto Show on November 19th and 20th, 2008.

I always wanted my bedroom (which happens to be my favorite place) to look like the one I saw in the fairytales. I always wondered if I would ever find a bed like the one on which Sleeping Beauty slumbered for years. Well, I’m happy I finally found one. Float, a cute green bed crafted from the sustainable, water-resistant Totara wood with base and canopy enclosed in acrylic fabric finished in Teflon fascinated me.

Wondering how to recycle your old rusted oil drums? May be French designer Francois Royer will show you an easy way to make them useful for decorating your home. The Stanker series is a collection of such oil barrels which have been molded into artistic pieces of furniture. The first among them was shaped in 2003 from an industrial oil drum and trolley wheels.

Gunwook Nam has come up with a clever way to handle the water crisis. The concept is called the Human Pump and it captures kinetic energy generated from human foot traffic and then uses it to make a system of pumps work. Now, these pumps bring fresh drinking water to the surface in a dramatic life-saving waterfall.
The Human Pump was one of the three winners at the Re-construct competition recently as it came across as a very socially responsible design. The World Health Organisation reports that 4,500 children die everyday due to the lack of clean water. Women and girls in the Sub-Sahara cannot got to school because they have to go water-searching for miles instead.

This one’s specially for those who live in the fast lane. A group of ingenious engineers have created the world’s first walking house. Built on six hydraulic legs that can walk, this 60 meters high structure is just right for traveller in you.
Fuelled by the sun and the wind, this house may be the answer to all our monetary problems. The house is 3.5 meter high (fit enough for four people) and comes with a living room, kitchen, composting toilet, bed, wood stove and a mainframe computer that controls the legs.

The secret is out! Thanks to British scientist Gary Williamson, the world knows the way to a healthy and long life. A professor at Leeds University, he has suggested that people must consume certain life essential food items on a regular basis.
The proposed list carries names of 20 functional foods that are rich in naturally occuring chemicals called polyphenols. Now, these have been known for many health benefits like protection against heart disease. Apparently, low fruit and vegetable intake makes you susceptible to chronic diseases.
