A Cool Can
Â
Tempra Technology and Crown Holdings will soon give the world its first self-chilling can. No more will one have to depend on the charity of a refrigerator to enjoy a cold beverage. Known as the I.C.Can, it is non-toxic and is 100% safe for both the consumer and the environment. The latest insulating, thermal and vacuum heat pump technology back this can. It can not only accommodate a 500 ml beverage but also the integral self-refrigerating device.
It is just a matter of minutes, three to be precise, for the can to drop its temperature to a minimum of 16.7 degree Celsius. When activated, the desiccant within the can draws the heat from the beverage through the evaporator into an insulated heat-sink container is the resulting vacuum power that lowers the temperature so quickly, leaving the beverage cool. The cans are easy to operate, transport and store. Its best feature is that it does not use carbon dioxide, CFC, HFC or any other compressed gas.
