Play to Save Nature
The Boycott’ is a humorous one-woman play that has been receiving rave reviews. It addresses environment amongst other things. Kudos to Kathryn Blume, the brain behind it and also the actor, for that!
The premise of the play is that the First Lady of the United States is worried about global warming. So, she launches a nationwide sex strike to fight the disaster and save the world (Quite an innovative plot, I must say!). Gradually the play unfolds and what we find is that Kathryn’s handling of the plot is actually a struggle to keep her emotional head above the waters of despair, trying to create a piece of theater that will impact the world. The story of Lyssa is intriguing as she has to deal with an indifferent husband, a hostile press and rival who is not only sleeping with the Prez but also with the darkest powers of the oil industry.
Let’s applaud environmental theater!
