Get Your Own Shopping Bag

Bag

Disposable plastic bags will be extinct soon if the announcement by the Whole Foods Market is anything to go by. By Earth Day, 22nd April, plastic bags will be banned by the WFM. The company has come up with the Bring Your Own Bag Campaign that will encourage consumers to bring reusable bags for shopping. The impact will be huge as the chain has 270 stores through the US, Canada and the UK.

The idea is innovative as it no longer gives a choice to the consumer like ‘paper or plastic?’ It rather works like, WFM is telling the consumer to shop their way or don’t shop at all with them. The company says, “Bring any bag, be it old, new, paper, plastic, fabric, even backpacks and woven baskets will do just fine.” In fact, the Fresh & Wild stores in UK, which are owned by Whole Foods Market, give awards like ‘bag-ladies’ and ‘bag-men’ to the consumers for bringing their own bags and even knock five pence off the total bill.
But there is no reason to worry for those forgetting to get the carry bags. WFM will be providing them with 100% recycled paper bags without an extra charge.
