Posted in Energy, Green, Solar on 30 March 2008

Solar Powered Submarine

Now the creative juices of most of the people are flowing in the right direction. While manufacturing ordinary torches and Grey water systems would seem nothing when I will disclose the latest mind blowing invention. A feature packed submarine, pinch yourself as what you heard is right. Now I can say day is not far when we will witness the production of a solar powered space shuttle or an ether powered star-ship endeavor!

Industry moguls are playing well with solar power. You might not get an opportunity to build a full-scale submarine but this miniscule solar powered toy that has depth control, will allow you to plan your boat through deep and foggy waters. This marine is so simple because of the use of a plastic-coated/molded solar component, waterproof by itself and this makes the connections and the motor water-resistant. Folks, consider it as an opportunity to experience the under-water attack.

Produce Biodiesel in Sheer 6 seconds!
Posted in Fuel, Gas, Pollution on 30 March 2008

Biodiesel

I can recall days back having a debate with my colleague about the growing usage of biodiesel posing a biggest threat rather than being a pretentious solution for the existing problem. And I have my viewpoint to substantiate. You must be aware that the production of biodisel has its roots in crops and it’s being a long that we have failed to find an alternative source. This would bring an unfeasible harmonizing between food for survival and food for engines. And lately, a process is been devised that experts claim would free U.S. from their dependence upon petroleum diesel fuel. Brian Krohn, a senior at Augsburg College, initiated the process to explore this alternate way of producing fuel.

Together with his professors and scientists from Anoka-based SarTec Corporation, Brian has worked on this project called Mcgyan Process. Making a revolution in the industry, the process puts alcohol and other waste oils under a high-temperature, high-pressure reactor. Then starts the actual process: The oils secreted from the soybeans, coconuts, algae react with a catalyst, thus producing 100% renewable biodiesel fuel. Hats off to this young chemist for this innovative and eco-friendly creation of biofuel.

P:S: If you have lend ears to your chemistry lectures, then who knows you could have been a substitute for Brian!

Hygienic Technology Tower Concept Consumes Wind and Solar Energy

Technology Tower Concept

With rising developers, there is dearth of greenery around us as all the empty land is being eaten by real estate developers and converted in big structures, helping them mint money. But the story of killing nature doesn’t end there. In fact it starts from there. The dwellers cannot compromise at their lifestyle and thus consumes lot of electric power, the scarcity of which is seen as a basic problem.

Technology Tower Concept

But you would be surprised to know that at the same time there is a growing consciousness about saving environment and less use of energy. Developers have plans to utilize wind and solar power for erecting high-rise buildings. The Clean Technology Tower concept created by Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill recommends the positioning of wind turbines at the corners of the structure to bind the high-velocity winds that hasten about the top of the tower.

Technology Tower Concept

A vaulted dual roof crater located at the summit of the tower will guide the wind towards a lot of wind turbines mounted at lower levels. Idea is to use the negative force shaped by the turbines to aerate internal spaces inside the structure while the field itself will be sheltered by solar cells that will focus on imprisoning the southern sun. It includes 1.8 million square feet of office space along with a 300,000 sq ft hotel, spa and street-level retail rounding off the complex.

Indoor Hydroponic Garden

Installing plants inside our living room is possible now with a revolutionary concept developed by a student designer. Falling amongst the most phenomenal entries at the Australian Design Award, the Indoor hydroponic garden is a creation by designer
John Pallot.

Indoor Hydroponic Garden

His design essentially suggests an interior, mechanical hydroponic garden that accomplishes the Dyson criteria by integrating a system that can assist the plant growth in a closed apartment with slight preservation even in absence of sunlight. Pallot’s design works on a monitored system that controls the amount of water, food and light supplied to the plant as per the users’ understanding of the plant growth. The entire unit consumes less than 12V power to function and has a 4.5L tank. More than anything, it can be your eye-catching room separator.

1.5 billion sq ft Waterfront City Stands On An Artificial Island!
Posted in Energy, Environment, Infrastructure, World on 10 March 2008

Waterfront City

Don’t mistake by counting it as any ordinary architectural magnum opus as it is more than that. Spread over 1.5 billion sq ft, this ecological masterpiece dubbed as waterfront city designed by Rem Koolhaas is a self-contained city positioned over a simulated island that blends stimulations from 19-century mosques to Koolhaas’s own ideas about the THX 1138-esque basic city.

Waterfront City

The striking views of this ecological marvel are quite futuristic. It is no less than a self-sustained city. It is being said that the island will be separated into 25 indistinguishable wedges that will be occupied by a blend of tall and squat towers interspersed by incredible structures viz. an escalating 82-story tower, 44-story sphere that will serve as mini-city within a mini-city equipped with an extensive arrangement of escalator pipes.

Waterfront City

To give an earthy feel to the edifice, it will be populated with customary parks and its very evolvement assures that Dubai is all set to leave the world behind within no time. Till date, Dubai has continually startled the world with the marvelous buildings that it has dished out over a period of time. In terms of green architecture, the nation is heading faster than any other city globally. Dive into the project and enjoy the feel of being green.

Wallet Designed Using Recycled Materials
Posted in Eco-Friendly, Eco-friendly products, Recycling, Renewable on 5 March 2008

Wallet

I agree with the fact that billboard advertising is being witnessed as a growing form of advertising. At the same time used to feel disturb about the resources when these huge old billboard posters are peeled off to be replaced by new ones. But to my much surprise there are people who are creative enough to experiment with these colored papers and come out with designer creation. Truly, I believe in using things that are eco-friendly in nature. And this one falls in the similar category.

The product that is designed using multihued and appealing billboard coverings is a wallet or rather its outer body. The outer body of the wallet is beautifully layered using any pattern of the giant poster whilst from inside it offers a lot of space for keeping credit cards, driving license and other important business cards. The safety of everything is assured using handy mesmeric clasp that holds everything.

To me it seems to be a perfect accessory for both men and women as its interesting unbiased form and shape, which is timeless, gives you an opportunity to start off your own fashion statement. Chances are as more people see you carrying this; they might also wish to get one, thereby increasing the demand for eco-friendly products. Priced at $22, it is a budgeted accessory that every one should have.
