Trees Produce Electricity: Thanks To Solar Botanic Nanoleaves

Technology has always tried to make use of the forces of nature for the betterment of humankind and nature in its own way has enthused man with its perfection and aptitude. Inspired by these forces Solar Botanic has planned to generate power through artificial trees. Just like the trees outside utilize air and sunlight to produce energy for their growth, these man-made trees will now convert the wind and solar energy into electricity.

Nanoleaf can be called the functioning unit of these trees. Designed to resemble the natural leaves, these have an intricate network of photovoltaic, thermovoltaic and piezo-electric elements implanted into them which convert the environment’s energy into electric energy. The photovoltaic and thermovoltaic cells absorb most of the sunlight belonging to both visible and invisible (infrared) wavelengths to store and convert it into energy. On the other hand, the piezo-electric elements in the petioles generate power in response to the mechanical stress produced by fluttering of the leaves to the wind.

The combination of these nano-technologies will in future endow us with an efficient, renewable and inexpensive source of power through natural looking synthetic trees. Solar Botanic for sure has found a smart way to utilize the multiple resources of nature.
