Futuristic, Green Cardboard Homes: The Latest Pet Project From Australian Architects

All of us surely enjoyed playing with doll houses when we were kids, especially the girl gang. These little cardboard replicas were our sweet homes where we did every thing from washing to cooking. The thought of living in such houses brings back those memories. This is what the Australian architecture firm Stutchbury and Pape designed. Priced at an affordable $35,000, these prefab homes are made out of cardboard and are 100% recyclable.

Stimulated by the IKEA wardrobe, these homes don’t need much skill to assembled and offer umpteen advantages. Apart from being flexible, durable and re-usable, they conserve a lot of energy and resources otherwise needed to build a house. Using power generated from solar cells or 12-volt batteries, these homes have in-built composting systems which can generate pure water rich in nutrients thus saving 30,000 liters of water.

Having built many look alike buildings in Australia, Stutchbury and Pape mainly focuses on eco-friendly designs saving a lot of environment’s precious resources and offering the occupants cute-looking designer homes. Now, when you think of moving to a new place, you can just pack and carry your house along with the other articles. Sounds exciting! Isn’t it?
