Being too green may spell trouble for you, so say psychiatrists in the USA. As per the experts, the extreme environmental awareness is giving rise to a generation of ‘carborexics’.

The scientists claim that there is a thin line between behaviours that qualify for eco-leadership or bordering on the obsessive-compulsive. A survey pointed that seven per cent of Americans fall into the category of ‘dark green’.

For the uninitiated, this ‘dark green’ stads for hard core recyclers and carbon footprint worriers. Some of the dark green habits seens in USA include cars running on waste vegetable oil, using one’s lawn as bathroom to save water, people sleeping together to bring down the heating bill, using the same Ziploc bag for a year etc etc.

Such instances indicate a mental health worry to experts. David Zucker, a sustainability specialist, feels that Americans are a victim to the habit of takinf everything to an extreme; too much push towards a zero consumption lifestyle is a cause of worry.
