Clooney Stands By Brangelina

Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and George Clooney
George Clooney is deciding to contribute some more to Brad Pitt’s Make it Right NOLA Foundation. The organisation was established to create 150 eco-friendly homes in New Orleans. If you remember, Clooney came up with $300,000 that covered the creation of two homes. Now, Mr. Ocean is willing to pump more money into Pitt’s charity.
“Yes, I have already bought a few houses that the foundation has built. The cost price, $ 150,000 is amazing. So, I am thinking of buying some more,” shared Clooney, happy on being a part of such an eco-friendly initiative.
The figure to be donated by Clooney is still not known. But we must agree that the large-hearted man feels that $ 150 K is an inexpensive way to make a difference to someone else’s life. More than that, he even sides by friend Pitt and his wife Angelina Jolie, who have always been pummelled for their efforts to ‘make a difference in the world’. “People always tend to poke fun at those who like to do such things. I really appreciate Brad and Angie for going the extra mile and putting their time and money to good use.”

All For A Green Screen

Actor Hugh Jackman as Wolverine
The American Film Industry has been up with the green philosophy for a long time now. But now the initiative has got the support from one of the big names in the business. The Queenstown Lakes District Council has come together with Film Queenstown to launch a ‘Green Screen Guide and Directory’. It was actually the backing of the producers of the film Wolverine that made the difference. Shot in and around Queenstown, the film managed a significantly reduced carbon footprint. The production made 670 tonnes of waste, 615 of which was diverted from the landfill letting the company save roughly around 55,000 dollars.
Actor Hugh Jackman, who plays the lead in Wolverine, is very kicked about the whole thing. “I am happy to be a part of a project that benefits the local economy.” Adding icing to the cake, the film’s producers expressed a willingness to return to the area with future productions.

Hayden A Hero For Dolphins
Posted in Animals, World on 13 August 2008

Hayden Panettiere
Sometime back we heard that actor Hayden Panettiere was issued an arrest warrant in Japan and was no longer welcome in the country. Well we heard the whole story only now and thought of sharing it with you. Actually, Hayden along with other animal rights activists had gone to the whaling town of Taiji in Japan to protest against the slaughter of dolphins. So the whole series of events.
But good news is that things were sorted for Hayden by Japanese Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura. In Hayden’s words, “I think it was an attempt to scare the protestors. But it’s okay now. The Foreign Minister was very kind and welcomed me to his country.” And now the pretty actor cannot wait to return. “Japanese culture is one of the kindest, most polite, most welcoming cultures you can ever run across,” she exclaimed happily.
Wow, quite a story that is!

Paltrow’s Such a Spoilsport

Gwyneth Paltrow at the \'black\' party

There is a whole group of people miffed at Gwyneth Paltrow. Apparently, at a charity party hosted by photographer Steven Klein in Hamptons where guests paid up to 2,500 dollars, Paltrow just refused to spend any time with them. The main objective of the gathering was to benefit the Amarayllis Farm Equine Rescue Organisation, a charity that even the beautiful actor supports. But even then, she chose to stay away from the entire affair. And so to the irritation of her fans, she spent most of the evening in Klein’s house which was off-limits to the paying party guests. “It was rude,” exclaimed an angry fan. Word is that even Billy Joel’s wife, Katie, was turned back.

However, there were many who found the ‘black’ theme of the evening even more offending. Everybody was asked to wear black. Klein ad a bonfire off to the side of an otherwise unlit horse riding field where guests were herded. It was a dark dark affair!

Perhaps even worse, Klein demanded that guests wear all black, and herded them into his unlit horse riding field. Later, Paltrow did emerge for about five minutes to address the group, which included Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Andrew Saffir, Nicole Miller, Sale Johnson, Russell Simmons, Rosanna Scotto, Rocco DiSpirito and Marcy Warren, and talked about Amaryllis, which helps stop the slaughter of horses, donkeys and mules for dog meat in Mexico.

Aniston Sees Green At Her Wedding with Mayer

John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston
As Brad Pitt enjoys fathering his newest borns with Angelina Jolie, looks like his ex Jennifer Aniston is finally ready to move on. The celeb world is hit by news that Aniston is making plans to tie the knot with beau John Mayer this fall. Even the wedding details have been leaked out. According to some, Aniston wants a low-key wedding that will be completely eco-friendly. Now that would be a real change from the fireworks and million dollar splash of her previous marriage to Pitt in 2000.
Hmmm…you know we haven’t been sure of Aniston’s dedication for ‘green’. We get to hear of her practising water conservation and building an eco-friendly green mansion with a solar-heating system, drought-resistant plants and organic materials. But then the house is also11,000 sq ft and let’s not forget that she is also a spokesperson for bottled water band Smart Water. Agreed that Mayer has influenced Aniston towards a greener way of life but it doesn’t seem to have really got on to her. Let’s be sure, even if everything is green at her wedding down to the organic tablecloths, tap water will surely not make an appearance.

Amanda Beard’s Bare Dare at Olympics
Posted in Animals, Designer, Earth, Eco-Friendly, Environment on 7 August 2008

Amanda Beard for PETA

US swimming star Amanda Beard and four time Olympian came out loud in support of PETA in Beijing. The ad was one of those typical PETA campaign ads that feature nude celebrities who say they’d rather be naked than wear fur. But officials fear fir the safety of the gold medallist and her entourage. In fact, one of her press cons were cancelled last minute. Apparently, the Public Security Bureau even paid a visit to the hotel she was staying in. But Beard was not shaken as she decided to step outside the south gates of the Olympic village with her campaign and talk to a group of some 25 reporters, fans and fellow athletes expressing her feelings about cruelty against animals.
Security guards kept an intent watch and police cars drove by but didn’t interfere. Check out her website, amandabeard.net, for her thoughts and a link to an animal rights petition.

Jennifer Aniston’s Doggy Love
Posted in Animals on 5 August 2008

Jennifer Aniston with her pet dog

It was a surprise for almost everyone when actor Jennifer Aniston came on record recently to talk about her dog-love. Insiders believe that it is a little weird for Aniston to discuss her forthcoming dog-centred film ‘Marley and Me’ now when it is scheduled to be released around Christmas. I guess the last time she gave an interview was a year and a half ago for her film ‘Dirt’ with Courtney Cox. Wonder why the otherwise media cold ‘Friends’ star thought of breaking the ice.

Aniston talked about her bonding with her canine co-star in the film and that she loves having dogs because they help welcome her home every day. She says children are a little harder to work with than dogs when asked about it. Looks like Aniston’s manager thought of cleaning her otherwise marred image created by the media. Well, haven’t we heard of the zillion stories that discuss her love affair with John Mayer where she is believed to be “clingy”.

John Cena Helps Jenny McCarthy Fight Autism
Posted in Health on 4 August 2008

John Cena

Jenny McCarthy teams up with professional wrestler John Cena to fight autism. After Jenny’s son Evan Joseph was diagnosed with autism in 2005, Jenny became a member of Generation Rescue for advice and support with the disease through diet control. The time spent there strengthened the fighter in Jenny enabling her to think of other families facing the challenges of autism. And so an interesting fund-raising plan was born.
Now there will be a special taping of Saturday Night Main Event in the hope that wrestling fans will make monetary donations to the cause. Cena admits that the WWE support might seem a little odd but he assures that the organisation feels deeply for autistic kids and wants to help them in every way possible. And as for Jenny, her spirits couldn’t be soaring higher. “My fellow members are the toughest parents who go out and kick ass!” she exclaimed. Giving an update on her son, Jenny says her 6-year-old is “in a typical school” and is thriving. Calling him the “most social, loving, unbelievably typical child,” Jenny proudly shares that Evan “knows the name of every possible airplane and airline ever!”

Martin Lawrence Gets Goosebumps

Martin Lawrence has a geese problem

Indeed we were surprised to learn that Hollywood actor Martin Lawrence owns a farm in Virgina but what was more surprising to know was of his farm mates. Looks like several different types of animals and birds like geese are calling the farm their home driving the comedian bonkers. A neighbour reported that Lawrence is struggling to find a way to deal with the situation and perhaps a gun may answer all his troubles. However, Lawrence’s publicist clarifies that there was a more humane side to the entire episode.

Looks like a hunting licence has been applied for by the farm manager but Lawrence is looking for all possible humane ways to tackle the problem of overpopulation while preserving the animal habitat in which they reside. Sources reveal that there are many different enterprises in rural Virginia that make their living assisting property owners on how to handle and manage migratory geese. It is very sad that a neighbour who has never met Martin or discussed the matter with him, would issue irresponsible public statements. Yeah, celebs do pay the price for their fame.
